Over the last few months I’ve been having a good think about what we do on a daily/weekly basis. Partly instigated by the start of the new school year. Starry girl is now settled into her preschool and I felt it was time to change the other activities she does in the week. We’d been going to gym and music classes for two years, one with rocket boy and one for her. And though we enjoyed them both it was time for a change; so she’s started swimming and dance lessons, both of which she loves.

She’ll be starting school in just over a year, which will be a big change for all of us. So I’m trying to work out what that will mean for us and what I can start doing now to prepare for that. I investigated starting my own business last year, but it wasn’t the right time as without making drastic changes to our family life I couldn’t commit the necessary amount of time to it. So I’m looking at other options.

I feel a bit like I’m in a period of metamorphosis, and I’m not quite sure what I’ll end up as! I’m struggling to break some unhelpful habits and imbed better ones. (My new watch is helping with that.) And I’m trying out new hairstyles and wearing more variety of clothes than just jeans and a jumper every day.

The children are growing more independent so they don’t need me all the time. And starry girl has stopped napping, which gives us a bit more freedom in our daily routine. So I’m trying to do more things for me during the week. Being with them, but doing something different. With varied success!
