It’s quite fun to learn nursery rhymes in a different language – it makes you appreciate the differences 🙂 as well as the difficulties of translating what are essentially poems/songs! Some differences I’ve noticed:

– Little sheep, little sheep, do you have any white wool? Is the Dutch for baa baa black sheep. And the little boy shivers from the cold, not lives down the lane!

– Head, shoulders, knee and toe, and ear and eye and the point of your nose – almost the same 😉

My boy is increasingly picking up and using Dutch words in conversation too. Father Christmas is the kerst man, and the other day he told me he wanted “just een (one)” of whatever I was offering. I can hear that his accent is better than mine too, although I couldn’t tell you what the difference is. Oh well, is to be expected!
